Open Innovation Portal is an initiative of Knowledge Commons and the Centre of Excellence in E-governance, Department of Management Studies, Indian Institute of Technology (Delhi).
| | The objective of the portal is to facilitate an innovation society by allowing innovators to register their ideas on the portal and establish prior art. An individual with an innovative idea or concept may want people to know about this idea. The idea may not even be scientific in nature and may be about a process improvement or even better usage of existing assets. By registering this idea on the Open Innovation Portal, the innovator furthers the knowledge of humanity in a collaborative and participative manner. The portal will be complimentary to the existing IPR framework and will cater to those innovations that are not appropriate for patenting or where the innovator cannot afford to patent her or his innovation. | | | | The portal will allow innovators from the scientific community, student community and from all walks of life to publish their innovations with no IPR encumbrances, for the whole world to benefit. The portal will provide a persistent time-stamped repository of the Open Innovations filed online and will hence form the basis for prior art reference. The innovative ideas will be rated by the users of the portal which would help in filtering out high value innovations. It will also help users to participate in the innovation process in an open and collaborative manner, by adding to and enhancing an existing submission. | |
